Postoperative Pain Management:
- Multimodal pain management, similar to adults
- Regional anesthesia, usually performed under general anesthesia with ultrasound guidance +/- nerve stimulation.
- Dosing of local anesthetics must be carefully calculated for weight to avoid toxicity.
- Depending on age and maturity of patient, options may include opioid infusions + PRN bolus vs. PCA.
- Ensure parental presence and avoid agitation, comfort measures.
